Pinetop-Lakeside, Arizona

Pinetop-Lakeside is located in the scenic White Mountains of Eastern Arizona. Founded in the early 1880's by Mormon pioneers, Lakeside derives its name from the area's lakes. Pinetop derived its name from the nickname of a saloon-keeper who served the Fort Apache soldiers. The two communities merged and incorporated in 1984. Pinetop-Lakeside is known for its recreational opportunities and resulting tourism, proximity to the world's largest stand of Ponderosa Pine and outstanding quality of life. Pinetop-Lakeside is located about 200 miles Northeast of Phoenix at an elevation of 7,200' and the population is about 4,500 people (2006).
