Show Low , Arizona
Show Low, commercial and tourism hub of the White Mountains, was established in 1870 and incorporated in 1953. The town is located in Southern Navajo County and has a population of 10,500. Show Low is about 180 miles Northeast of Phoenix and about 200 miles North of Tucson, Arizona. The name Show Low came about as result of two men, C. E. Cooley and Marion Clark, deciding there wasn't enough room in the settlement for both men. The two agreed to let a card game determine who had to leave. According to the story, Clark said, "If you can show low, you win." Cooley turned up the deuce of clubs and replied, "Show Low it is." The town is at an elevation of 6,415'.
